Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. The West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel grew to be a young woman living in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. She was determined to be professional, however due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's case it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school which led her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the the school's annual show. She tried out and ended up playing the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 shows, smaller and large. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
